Since my mother is American and my father is German I am, like so many of us, a product of two cultures. I lived in the German Alps until I was 10 and then moved to the U.S and have lived here ever since.

I have never felt completely at home in either culture, but I am strongly rooted in both places. I often feel that I exist somewhere in between the two, never quite belonging to either. This project came out of the longing I experience to be in both places at once.

Because of this longing, my memories of these places are projected and reflected onto each other. Drawing from cultural symbols like the edelweiss flower, old slides of my home, and some of my own memories these past impressions come into the present moment. The natural world and the domestic world merge into one and it becomes a world of its own.
